Anitta scoffs at motion to repudiate Madonna show: “How will I live from now on?”

The singer criticized the deputies responsible for the parliamentary note, suggesting that they “find things to do” for Rio Grande do Sul

Anitta used her Instagram to mock the motion of repudiation approved by a commission of the Chamber of Deputies due to Madonna’s concert in Rio de Janeiro. In the stories, the singer commented in a sarcastic tone: “Today I woke up devastated, desolate and landless. Do you know why? I’m really sick, I’m really worried. This has finished me. How am I” living from now on? Where is the purpose of life? I’m destroyed.

Criticism of parliamentarians

Adding to the irony, Anitta criticized the Bolsonarian deputies who dedicated the time of the House to this and did not direct their efforts to help Rio Grande do Sul, which is in difficulty. “Now, people have time, right? These people have time. I’m impressed by the time these people have for these things. Instead of spending that time helping the families of Rio Grande do Sul, now that the topic is no longer trending and no longer trending on the Internet, the help will start to decline. We will have time for this, folks. Now, if it’s a serious issue to resolve, there isn’t much time. […] You’ll figure out what to do,” the singer said.

Details of the motion to repudiate

The Committee of Social Security, Social Assistance, Children, Adolescence and Family approved the motion with a symbolic vote, with opposition only from MP Sâmia Bomfim (PSOL-SP). The proposal was signed by deputies Allan Garcês (PP-MA), Chris Tonietto (PL-RJ), Clarissa Tércio (PP-PE), Cristiane Lopes (União-RO) and Julia Zanatta (PL-SC), all Bolsonarists. According to them, Madonna’s show in Rio de Janeiro, with Anitta and Pabllo Vittar, promoted “the defamation of the faith of the majority of the Brazilian population” and showed “harmful content, with a strong erotic bias”.

The MPs said the artist mocked the Christian religion with satanic symbols and offended the “moral principles of the majority of the Brazilian population” with “pornographically inspired” content. In addition to Madonna and the Brazilian artists, the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes (PSD), and the governor of Rio, Cláudio Castro (PL), were also recipients of the note for the public money invested in the realization of the event.

Economic impact of the show

Madonna’s free show, which took place May 4 on Copacabana Beach, brought together 1.6 million people, according to an estimate by Riotur, a tourism company in the city of Rio. The event generated more than R$300 million in return for the state’s economy, according to the state government.
