The singer’s defense says the charges filed by three women in “Fallen Idols” will be resolved in court
Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter reaffirmed his innocence after Investigation Discovery’s “Fallen Idols: Aaron and Nick Carter” documentary aired Monday and Tuesday. The four-part documentary featured interviews with Melissa Schuman, Shannon “Shay” Ruth and Ashley Repp, three women who accuse Carter of sexual abuse.
Response to accusations
Carter’s attorney, Dale Hayes Jr., commented on the allegations to The Hollywood Reporter: “These are exactly the same absurd allegations that led us to prosecute this group of conspirators. These cases are now being examined by the legal system and, on the basis of In After the courts’ initial rulings and overwhelming evidence, we firmly believe that we will prevail and hold these individuals accountable for spreading these falsehoods.”
Over the years, Carter has accused the women portrayed in the documentary of conspiring to extort, harass and defame him with false accusations. He and his legal team responded to the women’s lawsuits with counterclaims. In response to the lawsuit notice, “Fallen Idols” executive producer Michael Hirschorn said he had been in constant contact with Carter’s team during filming, offering him the opportunity to comment, but he declined.
Documentary production
Hirschorn, showrunner Elissa Halperin and ID (Investigation Discovery) president Jason Sarlanis stressed that “Fallen Idols” tried to give the allegations an objective approach. “We wanted to give [às supostas vítimas] a platform to say what they wanted to say and we are very comfortable that they conveyed the essence of what they wanted to say accurately,” Hirschorn said. “But it was also our duty to ensure that if Nick Carter’s team had the opportunity to respond, we have represented and carefully weigh these responses. And that was really complicated.”
All four episodes of “Fallen Idols” are available to stream on the Max platform.
