Anitta denounces sexism in an international interview: “Stuck in time”

Poderosa complained about the sexist approach of the “Today Show” hosts, shortly after making history as the first Brazilian on the attraction

Anitta made a strong outburst this Friday (5/31) upon returning from “one of the worst interviews” of her international career. Poderosa was amazed by the approach of the presenters of the “Today Show”, a program of the American channel NBC, after making history as the first Brazilian artist to perform on the attraction.

“I’m sorry for being silent. I just came back from one of the worst interviews of my entire career. It was so sexist, like we were stuck in time 20 years ago,” she complained. “They just wanted to ask me about sex, my sexuality, my love life,” complained Anitta, who was asked if she would pose for Playboy.

“At one point, they asked me if I would consider posing for Playboy! Playboy! And when I said, I said, ‘Who knows, maybe I’ll become a writer for Playboy.’ It was like they never thought I could be beautiful and talented and intelligent.”

Larissa or Anitta?

Anitta then explained that the problem of the interview was to summarize her career with only information about her intimate life. “I don’t mind talking about sexuality. It’s part of our life and it’s a big part of who I am, so I don’t mind being asked about it. I love being a sexual person. It’s part of my character,” he commented.

“I just don’t like it when people think that’s all. When people treat me like, ‘Oh, being sexy is all I know.’ No, that’s not all I know. I’ve been managing my career for many years. I’m a better business person, I can’t reduce myself to just sex, I do a lot and I want to do a lot more,” Anitta continued.

Anitta also reiterated that she created a character after suffering sexual abuse from an ex-boyfriend. “I’m not that confident, to be honest. I have my insecurities. I’m just a normal person. I created a character who doesn’t go through all these things, doesn’t have these big emotions… this character who is invincible. And that makes me like it, I think it’s cool, it’s important,” he said.

Finally, Poderosa commented in more detail: “Anitta is part of me and I think that we all have a character like her inside us, this person that we can use as armor to face the most difficult things in life,” he concluded.
