Famous group of hackers asks for money not to sell data to third parties
This Friday 31st, the Procon of Sao Paulo informed the Ticket collector after a hacker attack to check whether the alleged data leak of 560 million of the company’s customers affected the registrations of Brazilians.
Since Thursday the 30th the Australian government has discovered that a group of hackers had access to customers’ personal data. The group reportedly asked for 500,000 Australian dollars (R$2.6 million) not to sell the information to third parties. The North American headquarters is also investigating whether the Americans were hit.
In Brazil, the consumer protection agency also questioned the company about its data processing policy and the strategy adopted in these situations. The institution has 48 hours to respond.

According to the US Department of Justice, the ShinyHunters hacker group rose to prominence between 2020 and 2021 by offering customer data from more than 60 companies. In September 2023, data was leaked from over 200,000 Pizza Hut consumer records in Australia. In January this year, a French member of the group was sentenced to three years in prison in Seattle, US.
