Bon Jovi recalls mistake at the beginning of his career: ‘We were stupid’

During an interview with Rádio Mix, Jon Bon Jovi spoke about the next studio album, titled Forever, and how the band rushed into the first LP

One of the main rock bands of the 1980s, Bon Jovi made a mistake early in his career, when he released his self-titled first studio album in 1984, according to himself Jon Bon Jovifrontman of the group.

During an interview directly in London with Radio Mixmade by journalist Karina Andrade, the artist celebrated 40 years of his musical career, especially his musical catalogue, part of the work that makes him most proud. It’s worth remembering how the conversation will be launched on the radio’s YouTube channel next Friday, the 7th.

The whole thing, the whole story. From the beginning to our most recent album – because everything that’s happened in between has kind of guided us to where we are today.

“The experience gives you the opportunity to want to do everything at once. When I’m in the studio, I have a specific focus, which I can’t really explain,” he said. Bon Jovi. “We had fun in the process of creating music, we always had fun and we knew where we wanted to get to. And we don’t waste time. In seven weeks it’s released, and everything is ready. The album Slipperyfrom 1986, took six weeks, but the album Keep the Faith, from 1992, took six months. So we quickly got back to making albums.”

Then, the rock icon admitted how naive he and the band were to think that they were already great artists after the release of their first album: “We were stupid (naive) to think that the first album made us giants, and That’s because we had a record deal.”

Then, what was considered ‘giant’ changed and, as time passed, other achievements came that also changed this, so Crush (2000) was one of them, this 40th anniversary is that too. With the public’s reaction to the single ‘Legendary‘ so far, without even having released the rest of the album, we already know that it will be a new achievement.

Bon Jovi’s next album represents a big step forward from his 2020 album

After making a heavy and far from happy album in 2020, the band comes with a completely different feeling for their 16th studio LP, titled Forever. “I felt that with this new album, we will be removing the marks of Covid-19 in the world,” he commented. “In the creation process, I underwent vocal surgery, and I kind of saw the end of the tunnel – but we had that feeling of pride because of our 40th anniversary.”

Now all the feeling of fun has returned again. This record was easy to write, easy to record, and people respond to that.

Bon Jovi recognizes the passion of Brazilian fans

Even more so with the popularization of social networks, several artists began to have more contact with fans around the world, and Brazilians are always present, whether to promote a project or ask someone to perform in Brazil.

Of course, with Bon Jovi it wouldn’t be any different – and the artist loves interacting with the people here. “They are passionate and anxious, they are always waiting for us to return to Brazil. No matter where I go, people always come up and say ‘nice to meet you, can I take a photo with you?’ But with Brazilians, the first thing I hear is: ‘I’m from Brazil’. Nobody even bothers to say their name, and nothing, it’s just ‘I’m from Brazil.'”
