Tribute show to Chris Martin’s troupe takes place this Thursday (6) and marks Cartaxo’s return to Blue Note SP
David Cartaxo is the attraction this Thursday (6) at Blue Note São Paulo. The artist, one of the 25 selected from the list Future of Music 2024 from the Rolling Stone Braziltakes advantage of the space to pay tribute to Coldplaya band that inspired him from his early years.
“Coldplay is a band that I’ve been listening to since the beginning, back in the early 2000s, when the band was still more melancholic”, says Davi. According to the artist, his passion for the group has an emotional origin, from his childhood when he listened to Chris Martin’s troupe under the influence of his father:
“I always loved listening, largely influenced by my father, who loved Coldplay. Before going to sleep, he liked to pick up the guitar and play for me to sing. That’s where it all started, but I still enjoy it today, with all the redesign, with them going through other band moments, and that’s it. It’s my favorite band.”

Tribute to Coldplay
Davi says that the show that arrives at the Blue Note features Coldplay’s most classic anthems in its repertoire, with versions reimagined by him, as well as his own songs. The presentation arrives in São Paulo after five dates in Fortaleza, where the artist proved the success of the formula:
“[O Coldplay] It’s a band that I know all the songs, I know everything, side A, side B, C, D… all the albums”, says Davi. “At the end of last year I was thinking about a special show. Other artists that I really like are John Mayer and Jack Johnson, who I had special, which I used to do until then, and it was really cool. But then came the snap of doing Coldplay and starting this show in Fortaleza. And when it came it felt super natural.”
The presentation takes place a year after Cartaxo’s last visit to Blue Note SP, when he debuted the launch show for his album DAVI (2022), by the Rolling Stone Novas Vozes project. This time, the musician takes the stage with the support of the company Friozem:
“I performed at the Blue Note exactly one year ago, in May 2023. It was the launch of my album there, and one of the most memorable experiences of my career so far. It’s magical, I’m just waiting for this new show.”
