The band was in Brazil to do the opening shows on Louis Tomlinson’s tour and took the opportunity to promote the album released this year
Five guys from the German city of Hamm, which has around 180,000 inhabitants, made a lot of noise here a little less than a month ago when they opened the Louis Tomlinson in Brazil. A Giant Rooks is formed by Frederik Rabe, Finn Schwieters, Jonathan Wischniowski, Finn Thomas It is Luca Göttnerschool friends.
This year, they launched How Have You Been? (2024), second album of his career and successor to Rookery (2020). Fred Rabe It is Finn Schwieters talked to the Rolling Stone Brazil and said that being in Brazil was “surreal.” “We’ve dreamed of doing shows in Brazil for a long time, we’ve been receiving messages from Brazilian fans for five years,” he said Finn.
This was the musicians’ first visit to Brazil, but as they were keen to emphasize, the relationship with Brazilian fans has been going on for some time in the digital environment. They took advantage of their time in the country to meet some of them at a meet & greet in São Paulo.
In Brazil, the presentations were shorter than usual, as they were opening shows, but the artists included songs from both albums, in what they defined as a “festival” setlist. “All the best we have so far,” he summarized Fred.
Speaking of the second album, the musicians say that the reception has been very positive. “We released the first album during the pandemic, so we only received feedback online,” he says Fred. “This time is different, as if we were launching it for the first time. We were super excited and, of course, nervous.”
We worked for about three years, it was a long journey. We really want to redefine the band’s identity. – Fred
“We’ve been playing the songs for a while and saw how they worked. We saw people identifying and immersing themselves in the songs,” he adds. Finn. They say that since its release, they have been very busy, as soon after the album came out, they embarked on tour.
Getting used to success
At the time of the launch of Rookery, Fred declared that the success left him “speechless.” Four years have passed since then, but the artist feels that this is an aspect that “you never completely get used to,” much of which comes from seeing his music echoed throughout other parts of the world.
We’re so far from missing and it’s amazing to see that people know the words and sing the songs, we don’t take that for granted. We are grateful for each and every supporter. – Fred
Finn adds that they didn’t know exactly what they were doing when they released their first album. “We probably don’t know yet,” she jokes. But now, the Giant Rooks is a more mature and artistically safer band. This is perceptive in the way their sound evolves. We will follow the next steps of the five friends.
