The South Korean singer spent 18 months away from musical activities to fulfill his obligations
Singer Jin, of the South Korean group BTS, will be exempted from mandatory military service this Wednesday (6/12) after being away from musical activities for 18 months. In a statement, BIGHIT announced that the artist is already scheduled to participate in a special event taking place this week.
The expectation is that all members of the K-pop group will be present at the discharge ceremony, however the agency clarified that the moment will be reserved for military personnel only and is not expected to receive the general public.
“There are no special events planned for the day of Jin’s discharge. To avoid problems resulting from overcrowding, we recommend fans not to visit the venue. Please convey your warm greetings and encouragement in your hearts,” BIGHIT recommended.
For fans, the agency has organized an event on Thursday (6/13) at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul, where they can meet Jin in person. The event also celebrates 11 years of BTS’ existence and promises several special moments with the singer.
And the other members?
The other members of BTS are currently drafted into the South Korean army to perform mandatory military service. Next to be discharged is J-Hope, who enlisted in early 2023 and is expected to be released from service in October this year.
Suga began his service last September and will only return to work in June 2025, as he has chosen a model of public activities in which he works in government offices (post offices, schools, police stations, among others). Artists RM, V, Jimin and Jungkook are also expected to receive their releases around the same time.
