To lift anyone’s spirits, Gu Andersen continues to release singles from his first studio album, “As Minhas Armas São Flores”. For the next single she chose ” Quando a Gente Sente “, composed by the talented singer, which arrives on all apps on June 21st. Production was responsible Bruno Duprésinger of Brasativa and producer, with whom he worked Maneva, Rael and Viegas.
The song is classified as a lively Reggae Roots and tries to bring light messages with a chorus to lull everyone into a unique feeling of joy, seeking a connection with the inner child and the pleasant memories we carry in our hearts. It also features a saxophone which promotes a light and positive atmosphere, as Gu Andersen pointed out:
“I feel that this song touches the listener with the joy and cheerful energy it transmits. It is a song with simple words and lyrics, but which carries with it a deep meaning, in which it enhances the moments of genuine happiness that we have during life, whether through a game, a meeting, a conversation, a journey, a party, an achievement… The good moments want them to come, they depend only on us, and life gives us the opportunity to see, and we have being present in everything we do, with total dedication,” he said.
Special themes
Gu Andersen revealed that the idea for the song came about because of an advertisement he saw at a yard sale for a contest where the winner would get a recording of the song with his granddaughter’s vocals. Gilberto Gil.
“When I saw the advertisement, I thought: why not participate? The competition had one condition: the song had to have the phrase “Happiness can be”, which was the theme of the campaign. I went home and started thinking about the song, ideas, etc. After about a week the song was ready. My song wasn’t the winner, but I liked it so much that I turned it into Reggae and recorded it.”, he revealed.
As for the music video, which was recorded in May 2024, in collaboration with Soul em Cena and directed by Maurício Decourt and Eduardo Contreras. The producer has already produced four music videos for the singer and in this one he focuses on something playful, simple and with a very pleasant outlook on life. The setting was created in Sao Paulo, in Praça John Lennon, in Alto da Lapa. The audiovisual features many children playing classic games, such as bubbles, hopscotch and more, as well as a couple of clowns.
“We had little time to record the clip as it was almost dusk and the light changed very quickly. Managing the children’s attention was not easy at all, but in the end everything worked. The children brought lightness, joy and magic until that day, which was truly special.”, he concluded.
Steps of the future
For 2024, the release of the album, with lots of reggae and inspirations from classical musicians such as Djavan, Lenine, Marisa Monte and Milton Nascimento. The project has 10 tracks. For next year, Gu Andersen wants to release a new album, with influences on New MPB, Pop and Folk, as well as a tour and new partnerships.
