Singer Milton Nascimento released a new song this Friday 21st, The wind is gone (for Paul Simon). To celebrate the partnership, the singer’s son, Augusto Nascimento, shared a video in which the ex Simon & Garfunkel explains how he received the invitation for the song.

Augusto explains that Milton sent a tune to Paul Simon to write lyrics in 2020. The singer ended up not responding, and later explained that the song had been put on the back burner due to health issues. Despite this, the idea of ​​the partnership remained alive.

“Oh my God. Of course I do!” Paul Simon says in the video, talking about how he received the invitation to create a song with Milton Nascimento. The meeting took place last year, in New York, with the mediation of none other than the director Spike Lee.

Augusto tells how the surprise meeting happened: “We were with Spike Lee in the room, and some flowers arrived in Paul’s name. I thought he wouldn’t go, but he sent me his love. I got out in the car with Spike, and when I got up , the room phone rang: it was Paul Simon arriving!”, he wrote on your Instagram this Friday the 21st.

In November 2023, Paul Simon provided a “spoiler” that he would record with Milton. “I just recorded a duet with Milton Nascimento for his next album. An album that he considers the last him,” she said in an interview with Uncut.
