Armenian American drummer is very close to the Brazilian band and even participated in a song released by them in 2021
THE EGO KILL TALENT opened all shows from system of a Down In the newly encerified tour of South America. Curitiba, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo (three dates) received the bands in the national territory. In the other countries, they visited Bogota (Colombia), Lima (Peru), Santiago (Chile) and Buenos Aires (Argentina).
However, who thinks this connection has started now is mistaken. The group formed in the state capital has been related to the Armenian American band for years and even had the participation of their drummer, John Dolmayanin music “Thousand Nails”launched by Brazilians in 2021. Both sets also held a series of performances in Europe in 2017.
In an interview with Rolling Stone Brazilthe guitarist Theo van der loo and the drummer Raphael Miranda They detailed the friendship with Dolmayan and the other members of the System of a Down, especially the singer SERJ TANKIAN and the bassist Shavo Odadjian. According to Theo, he and Raphael meet John and Serj, specifically, since before the creation of Ego Kill Talent.
“We were already very friends. John and Serj are on the list of the first 10 people who heard the first Demos of Ego Kill Talent there in 2014. A lot of the band exists has to do with it, because when we showed the demos, their reaction was: ‘Wow, I think you have something there should be investing, the band is great.’ It’s very close, and John opines a lot on our things, right? ”

Raphael intervenes to reveal something curious: Dolmayan gives Pitaco even in the band’s name. For him, he should be called “Ego Kills Talent”because it would be more suitable for the English language. Theo tells:
“He insists that we should put a ‘s’ in ‘kill’, but shavo already thinks it is better without. When we launched the clip of ‘Reflecting Love’he called just to say that the costume was much better and different: ‘It’s much better than everyone black on stage’. ”

And how do Brazilians react to the feedback of the Armenian drummer? Theo tells:
“Our relationship is friendship. It doesn’t go to this ‘place’ to worry about pleasing. Obviously, the guys are members of one of the biggest bands in the world, so we hear very carefully because they are very good at what they do. But it’s always very constructive. For example, John spoke at dinner the day before yesterday [dia 9]: ‘This formation is fired the best you have ever had.’ He is completely in love with Cris [Botarelli, baixista] and Emmily [Barreto, vocalista]. Despite being a brunette guy, he is very sensitive. And he never praised the band as much as he praised for the first time with Cris and Emmily. He is enthusiastic, throws you up. ”
