This wasn’t the first time Coldplay and Michael J. Fox had collaborated live; actor played with band in 2016
During a show at Glastonbury Festival 2024 last Saturday, 29th, Coldplay had a more than special participation at a certain point in the setlist. The group, led by Chris Martincalled Michael J. Foxiconic interpreter of Marty McFly in Back to the future (2985), to play one of the guitars in “Fix you,” hit of the album X&Y (2005).
“With its riff of Chuck Berry and the way he punched Biff: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Michael J. Fox,” stated the vocalist with references to the legendary film. For the performance of the song, the actor was in a wheelchair. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991.
After finishing the song, Martin took the opportunity to praise Fox, one of the great inspirations for the creation of the British rock group. “The main reason we’re in a band is because of Back to the future,” he said. “So, thank you to Michaelour hero.” Watch below:
It is worth remembering how Coldplay and the actor have collaborated on stage before. In July 2016, at the band’s show at MetLife Stadiumthey played”Johnny B. Goode,” music by Chuck Berry who appears in one of the most memorable scenes of Back to the future.
