Recorded remotely in different environments, such as the beach and a hotel room, God’s Little Darling brings great reflection of Froid as a human being
Almost a year after releasing the album OgEMr (2023), the rapper Cold showed another interesting artistic facet with God’s Darlingwhich arrived on streaming platforms on July 5, 2024, via ONErpm. Entirely produced by the artist, his fifth album enhances creativity through the freedom that music offers, with sounds that range from boombap to afrobeat and dancehall.
Different than OgEMr, God’s Darling has an extensive tracklist of 20 tracks, such as “The Peace I Seek,” “Playboy” It is “Start.” The album was produced over about a year and six months, with a total of 57 songs. The creative process was quite fluid, recorded in BrasÃlia and Rio de Janeiro and mostly outside the studio.
For example, only four songs were recorded in a studio, while the others were captured in locations such as a living room, a rooftop, a hotel room, and even on the beach. This decision was made by the artist himself. Coldwho spoke about the album in an interview with Rolling Stone Braziland the sound engineer Lucas Wolfwith the aim of conveying the emotion the rapper felt at the time.

Now the sound of God’s Darlingperhaps, is the most mature and introspective of the singer’s career, who draws inspiration from various rhythms to work. “My music is a result of what I listen to,” he explained. “I’m consuming a lot of dance hall and afrobeat, which influenced the final recordings.” According to him, at first, the album was going to be just rap – and thankfully he changed direction, resulting in unique and different compositions.
The fifth studio album by Cold is an amalgamation of everything he has lived and studied, far beyond rap. For the 30-year-old artist, this mix of musical genres and subgenres is a result, in fact, of the essence of making music.
The importance [de misturar sonoridades] is the legacy. All genres were created accidentally. Music is unpredictable and freedom is the greatest source of creativity.
With a large volume of tracks, such as Cold worked in such a short time on almost 60 songs after releasing OgEMr in August 2023? As the singer explained to Rolling Stone Brazil, God’s Darling was worked in parallel.

“OgeMr it wasn’t produced by me, so I had time to compose,” he recalled. “I spent almost a year just composing lyrics until I started producing God’s Darling.” Contrary to the music industry’s addiction to making short albums with songs that seem made to go viral, Cold chose to follow his heart and artistic intuition.
I feel like I’m one of the artists who keeps culture alive in many ways. I don’t usually follow industry models, and that shows how much I care about art.
