The guitarist has left the tour and is in intensive care
Jonny Greenwood, guitarist of Radiohead, is in intensive care due to a serious infection. The artist was on tour with the side project The Smile, formed by Thom Yorke (also of Radiohead) and Tom Skinner (of Sons of Kemet), when he was rushed to the hospital. The information was confirmed with the cancellation of the presentation scheduled for this Friday (7/12).
Official note from Il Sorriso
The Smile group has released an official statement explaining the guitarist’s situation. “A few days ago, Jonny became seriously ill with an infection that required emergency hospital treatment, some of which was in intensive care. We have been instructed by the medical team responsible for Jonny’s care to cancel all appointments until he has time to fully recover,” the statement reads.
Impact on the European Tour
Smile’s European tour, scheduled for August, has also been canceled. “We all wish Jonny a speedy recovery,” concludes the note, also shared on Radiohead’s social media.
