Post Malone Makes Directorial Debut With Documentary About Rapper Skepta

The film will cover the British rapper’s inspiring journey, focusing on cultural identity and creativity

H.wood Group has announced that Post Malone will make his directorial debut with a documentary about Skepta, the British rapper and grime idol known for songs such as “Greaze Mode” and “Gas Me Up (Diligent).”

Skepta’s Journey

The production will tell the artist’s inspiring journey, addressing themes of cultural identity and creativity.

Skepta, whose real name is Joseph Junior Adenuga, is the son of Nigerian immigrants and his career has been shaped by that legacy. In 2016, he turned down an MBE from the Queen and instead accepted the title of chieftain in his parents’ hometown in Nigeria. His story of modern identity and immigrant experience is an inspiration to many.

In recognition of his impact on music and culture, Skepta was awarded the Visionary Award at the 2024 Ivor Novello Awards.

Project management

Malone will co-direct the project with Hector Dockrill, who was nominated for a BAFTA for the short film “Goldfish.”

Dockrill expressed his excitement for the project: “Skepta’s story is deeply nuanced and resonant. I’m honored to work with Post Malone and bring this powerful narrative to the screen. We hope the documentary will inspire and move people around the world.”

The documentary is scheduled to premiere in 2025.
