Sharon Osbourne reminisces about the 2005 edition of Ozzfest
Sharon Osbourne recalled a specific moment from the 2005 edition of Ozzfestduring a recent interview (via NME). At the time, the Iron Maiden was greeted with objects and eggs thrown at the stage by the audience.
The band continued with the show, until Sharon went up on stage and said that Bruce Dickinson “disrespected the Ozzfest” while they were on the road. Because of this, the group left the tour early.
According to the NMEit was reported that the wife of Ozzy Osbourne delayed the entry of the mascot Iron MaidenEddie, in the presentation and encouraged the audience to throw objects at the stage.
“It was just the singer,” he said. Sharon The Billboard about the feud. “The other guys in the band are amazing, great people. No problem at all. But when you have a singer who is dying of envy of the headliner, that never works out.”
“He would come on stage, turn to the audience and say mean things. It was disrespectful. ‘I didn’t agree with these f*cking lights,’ and all that.” Ozzy “If you don’t want to perform, just say, ‘I don’t want to perform.’ But it’s f*cking stupid to accept the gig and then just complain about it.”
Sharon She said she warned her husband: “I just kept saying, ‘Let him do it. He’ll understand. ‘ And on the last day, he understood.”
Dickinson reciprocated during the performance, after the eggs were thrown: “You must have noticed some smart guys who decided to go to the supermarket, buy some f*cking eggs and start throwing them at us here in front.”
“I guess they thought it would be funny. Well, this is a f*cking English flag and those colors don’t run away from you f*cking cunts,” he continued. Watch:
Sharon commented on the incident: “I was going through cancer treatments, and all the nurses I had met during my year of chemo came to the show and said, ‘Can we do something for you?’ And I said, ‘Yes, you can.’ I loaded them up with cans of bean soup, vegetables, eggs, and said, ‘Shoot the singer.’ And they did. It was like, ‘You want to talk? You think you’re smart? Well, watch this — you’re going to get covered in tomato soup in L.A.’”
“I just thought, ‘You’re getting paid to be on this tour, and you’re disrespecting the guy who the tour is named after. You’re disrespecting him by criticizing him every night to the fans.’ I don’t like that. It’s not the spirit of what we do,” he added.
