The singer has spoken out on social media against the use of her music during a political campaign
Singer Celine Dion took to social media on Saturday (9/8) to denounce the unauthorized use of her song “My Heart Will Go On,” the theme song from the movie “Titanic,” during a Donald Trump campaign rally the night before in Bozeman, Montana.
abrupt response
The Canadian singer stated that neither she nor Sony Music Canada have authorized the use of the song, so it can no longer be played. She also stressed that she does not approve of this or any similar use of her music. “And, I swear, THIS song?” the message concluded ironically.
25 years of “My Heart Will Go On”
Last year, the theme “Titanic” celebrated 25 years since its release. The song has become one of Celine Dion’s biggest hits and is widely recognized globally.
Health challenges
Celine Dion faces a rare neurological disorder, Stiff Person Syndrome, an autoimmune condition that affects about one in a million people. Symptoms include muscle stiffness in the trunk and limbs, as well as increased sensitivity to stimuli such as noise, touch, and emotional stress, which can trigger involuntary muscle spasms. She showcased the challenges she faces in a documentary that became Prime Video’s most-watched documentary. And while she feared retirement due to health reasons, she showed resilience and performed at the opening of the Paris Olympics, singing to the world on July 26.
