Wembley Stadium Shares Taylor Swift Concert Safety Measures
Starting this Thursday (15), singer Taylor Swift will perform at Wembley Stadium in London to conclude her European tour. The Tour of the Eras.
These will be the first performances since the threat of a terrorist attack caused the cancellation of performances in Vienna, Austria.
Fans who do not have tickets to the shows have been warned not to gather outside the concert venue.
It is worth noting that the practice of fans is known as “Tay Gate” on social media, meaning fans can’t get into the singer’s shows and gather outside to listen to their favorite songs, will not be admitted to Taylor Swift’s next five shows at Wembley Stadium.
A note on the stadium’s website says: “Wembley Stadium is located in a residential area. We kindly ask that only those with tickets or those viewing our merchandise in the megastores attend the stadium to avoid disruption to local residents and businesses.”
“To ensure the safe entry and exit of everyone inside the stadium, no one is allowed to be outside the entrances or on the Olympic Steps in front of the stadium.”
It’s worth noting that Taylor has already performed at a 90,000 capacity venue for three nights in June.
This comes after around 50,000 fans camped out in the hills just behind Munich’s Olympic Stadium to watch the spectacle late last month.
“The crowd of 74,000 people a night at the stadium were so passionate and so generous with us. And before I came to Munich, I had no idea that there was a huge park behind the stadium, but about 50,000 people came to listen to the show on the hill both nights,” wrote the singer on her Instagram.
“I’ve watched so many videos from afar of the audience fully participating in the show, all that joy… I’m so grateful for the unexpected memories this tour has created,” finished.
Ahead of the London shows, Wembley Stadium announced on its website that “Everyone will be checked before entering” AND “no weapons of any kind will be allowed.”
The Metropolitan Police denied that the alleged terror plot had any impact on upcoming shows, previously telling PEOPLE in a statement: “There is nothing to suggest that the matters being investigated by the Austrian authorities will have any impact on future events here in London.”
Taylor Swift will be joined by Paramore and several other artists, including Griff and Suki Waterhouse, at shows running through August 20.
