Billie Eilish’s harsh criticism of porn films, which she has watched since she was 11

Singer is yet another celebrity who has taken a stand against the adult film industry and claims to have had problems with this type of content.

Pornographic material is more accessible than ever. Even on social media: at the beginning of June, X (formerly Twitter) officially allowed the publication of such content on its platform.

Even children and teenagers can be exposed to this type of material, since parental control is quite inefficient. This is what the story of Billie Eilishone of the greatest singers of today and a fierce critic of the world of explicit films.

The artist opened up about the subject in 2021, during her participation in the program Howard Stern (via Rock Celebrities), on the radio SiriusXM. This is not a random topic for her: Eilish revealed that she consumed a lot of pornography from a very young age. In the past, she has even defended this type of content.

At one point, she noticed its effects on her own sex life. That’s when things changed. Billie said:

I think porn is a disgrace. I used to be the person who would talk about porn all the time. I would say, ‘It’s so stupid that anyone would think porn is bad or wrong, I think it’s so cool, it’s great.’ I defended it and I used to watch a lot of porn, to be honest.”

During the interview, Eilish revealed that she started consuming this type of content at the age of 11. At the time of the interview, she was 20. She continued explaining her opinion on erotic films initially:

I didn’t understand why it was a bad thing. I thought that was how you learned to have sex. I think it really destroyed my brain. I feel incredibly devastated that I was exposed to so much porn.”

Abusive videos and reflection

During the interview, Billie Eilish also said that she used to watch videos that she now considers “abusive”, involving more extreme practices. She now associates watching this type of content with nightmares and sleep paralysis.

Eilish also believes that this negatively influenced her sex life, especially her early relationships.

It got to the point where I couldn’t watch anything that wasn’t violent. I didn’t find it attractive. And I was a virgin. I’d never done anything. That led to problems. The first few times I had sex, I wouldn’t say ‘no’ to things that weren’t good. That’s because I thought I was supposed to be attracted to it. That’s what a lot of people think they should learn. That’s how a lot of men think they should be.”

For the singer, in addition to influencing negative behavior in men, pornographic films also affect women.

Women’s bodies don’t look like that. We’re not like that. I’m so angry that porn is so loved and I’m so angry at myself for thinking that was okay.”

Billie Eilish’s experience with pornography has been addressed in song lyrics. One example is “Male Fantasy”from the album Happier Than Ever (2021), during which she addresses a situation in which she is alone at home and watches videos to try to forget a relationship breakup.

Other reports like Billie Eilish’s

Billie Eilish wasn’t the only celebrity to speak out against the adult film industry. Her 2021 statement was commented on on Instagram by Brian “Head” Welchguitarist of Kornwho supported the singer’s words.

No judgement if you like porn, but I definitely understand Billie Eilish – a lot of negative energy in that industry, in my experience.”

Kanye Westrapper now known simply as Yehas already said that adult content “destroyed his family”. Just like Billie, he also had access to this type of content very early, as he told Shein 2019:

“My father left a [revista] Playboy was around when I was 5 and it affected pretty much every choice I made for the rest of my life. From the age of 5 until now, I’ve been trying to change my habits and it’s presented itself openly as if it’s okay, but I stand up and say, ‘No, that’s not okay.'”

Another famous example is that of the actor Terry Crews. To the The Wendy Williams Showhe also cited cases of addiction in his family and said that before he got treatment, pornography was damaging his marriage. He also said that he had been addicted to explicit content since he was 12, while his father was an alcoholic and his mother was “addicted to religion.”
