The new series, which is scheduled to premiere later this year, will show the serial killer’s youth and will feature the former protagonist as narrator.
Showtime and Paramount+ have announced the opening of Dexter: Sin Originalprelude to Dexter (2006-2013) and Dexter: New Blood (2021-2022). The sequence refers to the original opening of the series starring Michael C. Hall (Six Feet Under), who was also confirmed as the narrator of the novelty.
Dexter: Original Sin — which does not yet have a confirmed release date, but should be released by the end of this year — will take us back in time to discover the youth of Dexter Morgan before he became the serial killer that we know. Patrick Gibsonknown as The OA (2016-2019) and Shadow and Bone (2021-2023), will be the protagonist of the novelty. Check out the opening:

Who else is in the cast?
In addition to Patrick Gibson, Christian Slater (Mr. Robot) will interpret Harry Morganthe character’s father, and Molly Brown (Back to the Dance) will live the sister of Dexter, Debra Morgan. In the original series, the characters were James Remar (Oppenheimer) and Jennifer Carpenter (White Chicks), respectively.
Dexter: Original Sin also has James Martinez (Billions) as Angel Baptistlived by David Zayas (The Expendables) in the original; Christina Milian (Love for Rent) as Maria LaGuertarole that was Luna Lauren Velez (Transformers: Dawn of the Beasts) and Alex Shimizu (The Blacklist) as Vince Masukawhich has already been interpreted by CS Lee (Chuck).
Finally, the news also includes Patrick Dempseyof Grey’s Anatomy (2005- ), in a role not yet revealed; Sarah Michelle Gellarfrom Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003), as the head of Dexter at the Miami Police Department; and Reno Wilsonof Good Girls (2018-2021) as Bobby Wattconfidant of Harry Morgan.
What is the story of Dexter?
Dexter followed a forensic expert who solved crimes during the day and committed murders at night. The series ran for eight seasons, airing between 2006 and 2013, and returned in 2021 with Dexter: New Bloodwhich revealed what had happened to serial killer after ten years. However, the second show was not as successful and ended up being cancelled after one season.
