Known for being part of bands such as New Order, Joy Division and Revenge, Peter Hook compared iconic works by David Bowie to AI art
Singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer who has been in bands such as New Order, Joy Division and Revenge, Peter Hook gave his opinion on the use of Artificial intelligence in the songs and did not spare negative criticism – and commented how “every song written by AI It’s shit.”
In participation in the podcast XS Noize, Hook participated in a debate on the use of AI in all types of art and has been firmly against the use of this technology. For example, the 68-year-old artist compared the result with works by great names in music, such as David Bowieand implied how it is an insult to those who have honed their craft for years.
“When you look at someone as good as you David Bowie in writing songs and is amazed.’Drive-in Saturday,’ ‘The Prettiest Star.’ The guy was a genius. Songwriting is an art you can’t teach. AI is the proof… each song of AI that has already been written is s***,” he said.
They’re crap because there’s something intangible that a human being has that a song captures.
