In cases like this, ‘silence’ actually means showing restraint and waiting to express. The timing was right. My priority was to finish our European tour safely and it is with great relief that I can say that we have achieved that,” he added.

“In short: we have officially closed the European stage The Tour of the Eras. With it came the most passionate crowds I have ever played for, new show traditions, and the addition of a whole new era. It was a faster pace than we had ever done before, and I am so proud of my team and fellow artists for being able to physically execute this show and set up our massive stage, take it down, and create magic in such a short amount of time between recovery and travel. They are the most impressive people I know, and I am so fortunate that they dedicated their time, energy, and expertise to The Eras Tour.
Stepping on stage in London was a rollercoaster of emotions. Having to cancel our shows in Vienna was devastating. The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear and immense guilt because so many people had planned to attend these shows. But I was also very grateful to the authorities, because thanks to them we were mourning concerts and not live. I was moved by the love and unity I saw in the fans who came together. I decided that all my energy had to be directed towards helping protect almost half a million people who come to see the shows in London. My team and I work hand in hand with the stadium staff and the British authorities every day towards this goal and I want to thank them for everything they have done for us. Let me be very clear: I will not speak publicly about something if I think it might provoke those who want to harm the fans who come to my shows.
In cases like this, “silence” actually means showing restraint and waiting to speak up at the right time. My priority was to finish our European tour safely, and it is with great relief that I can say that we have achieved that.
And then London seemed like a beautiful dream sequence. All five of the crowd at Wembley Stadium were filled with passion, joy and exuberance. The energy in that stadium was like the biggest hug from 92,000 people every night, and it took me back to a place of carefree calm up there.
We had some EPIC surprise performances from my long time friends Ed Sheeran, Florence and The Machine, Jack Antonoff. Singing “Florida!!!” with Flo for the first time was unforgettable and Ed brought back memories of the Red Tour. It was the most giddy honor to become the first solo artist to play Wembley 8 times in one tour. To the fans who saw us this summer, you will always have the brightest place in my memories. You were a dream to perform, dance and share these magical moments. We will all see you again when we resume the Eras Tour in October, but for now let’s get some much needed rest. Thank you for the adventure of a lifetime. May it continue.”
