Wandering is marked by the choice of joy, despite the songs (few) that carry with them the weight of sadness. Also because the album responds to the desire for expansion of the Adriananatural reflection of the harvest period experienced between 2020 and 2021, due to the pandemic.
Unlike Onlyhis 2020 album that shed light on that loneliness as it was experienced, Wandering wants, from the title, to go out the door. This spirit is not only manifested in the songs, almost all composed from 2020 onwards.
The recording sessions, held at the Ronzinante record company studio (isolated in Araras, in the mountains of Rio de Janeiro, surrounded by Atlantic Forest), were the celebration of the cursed meeting. In the end, Wandering is what is called a “band record”.
And by band, it is understood Adriana Calcanhotto (guitar and vocals), Alberto Continentino (bass, piano and lyre), David Moraes (guitar and guitar) and Domenico Lancellotti (drums and percussion), as a reinforcement for the woods Diogo Gomes, Jorge Continentino AND Marlon Seven.
Installed in the Studio houseliving together on a daily basis, the musicians built the album’s sound together with the singer, in an essentially musical dialogue.
Adriana Calcanhotto open Wanderingdrawing a self-portrait in verse. Its contours, however, are not made of defined, unmistakable lines. On the contrary, it is constructed from a spreading identity: “I have an Italian body/ I was born in Brazil/ I have a Portuguese soul/ I have an African motherland.” Uprooted, then, as she states immediately afterwards: “And in everything I do I am nothing but an impostor”.
