Eminem admits rapping about mental health and addiction was ‘therapeutic’

Eminem admitted that rapping about mental health and addiction was “therapeutic.” In an interview with Sway In The Morning (via NME), the musician opened up about his substance abuse and mental health issues throughout his career, explaining how talking about it changed his life.

“Well, I think one of the best things about rap is that, you know, you can put a lot of your life into the lyrics. I was just trying to figure out how to expand on that and I kind of lost it,” he explained. “It’s therapeutic and it’s you, it’s how it’s always been for me. But with this record, with this new album Boogie, the title, everything is f*cking good.”

Rapper added: “And watching him just get better and better and better is amazing too. And he had so much of his life wrapped up in that record. Do you know what I mean? Like, I think this is therapeutic.”
