The festival cites “external difficulties” and music industry challenges as reasons for the cancellation
Primavera Sound festival has announced the cancellation of the editions scheduled for November and December 2024 in Buenos Aires and São Paulo, as well as the Primavera Day events in Montevideo and Asunción. According to Afonso Lanza, director of the event, the decision was made due to “external difficulties” and “challenges in the music industry” that made it impossible to hold the events with the expected quality.
Ticket refund
The event organizers have provided a link so consumers can request a refund for tickets purchased. The process involves filling out a form, with a maximum of 30 business days for a refund.
Words from the director of Primavera Sound
In a statement, Afonso Lanza regretted the cancellation: “This is undoubtedly a difficult decision, taken after many months of work and after having taken different paths to be able to carry out these events with guarantees, especially in the current challenging situation of the music industry.” . R Once all possibilities have been exhausted, we must be prudent and now invest all our energy in future plans.”
The Barcelona-based festival organizers had signed a contract with Time for Fun (T4F) to hold Primavera Sound for the next ten years in São Paulo. This came shortly after the second national edition of the event last December, which featured artists such as The Cure, The Killers, Pet Shop Boys, Beck, Slowdive and Bad Religion, along with less significant names and several national acts.
