The festival, which takes place in March in Sao Paulo, breaks with its roots in alternative rock
Rock festival? Lollapalooza Brasil 2025 announced this Tuesday (9/3) a pop lineup that includes Olivia Rodrigo, Justin Timberlake, Shawn Mendes and Alanis Morissette as the main attractions. The selection marks a significant shift from its origins in alternative rock. Created in 1991 by Perry Farrell, singer of Jane’s Addiction, to bring together the main alternative bands that had no place in the big events of the time, Lollapalooza even inspired the name “Alternative Nation” for its first bands.
Despite the commercial changes in the festival circuit, Lollapalooza Brasil’s option is radical compared to the event’s configuration in the United States and other countries. In any case, the Brazilian edition will also include Rufus du Sol, Tool, Foster the People and Jão, among dozens of other attractions. The production has not yet announced the division of artists by dates and stages.
