Anitta Makes a Call for The Weeknd’s Show in Sao Paulo

The Canadian singer’s performance will be broadcast on YouTube for everyone at 9pm

Minutes before The Weeknd’s show in Sao Paulo was set to kick off, Anitta posted an invitation to the show on her Instagram, raising expectations for a rumored international partnership between the two artists.

The post follows the discovery of a registration of a song titled “São Paulo” at the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, which listed the names of Larissa de Macedo Machado and Abel Tesfaye, aka Anitta and The Weeknd, respectively, as the authors.

Mysterious Social Media Interactions

Although none of the artists have confirmed the partnership, Anitta has been very supportive of the Canadian singer’s arrival in Brazil.

On Tuesday (8/3), the two sparked rumors, following a post by The Weeknd on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote: “You can’t see it, but we are here,” referring to the judicial blocking of X/Twitter in the country. The text accompanies a photo of a woman riding a motorcycle, with the word “São Paulo” written on her shorts. But what attracted the most attention was the fact that Anitta reacted to the publication with hearts and a Brazilian flag.

With Anitta in Brazil, after attending the NFL halftime show at Arena Corinthians on Friday (6/9), the proximity of events creates a perfect situation for a surprise launch.

Live broadcast to the world

The Weeknd’s show takes place at MorumBIS Stadium in Sao Paulo, outside of his current tour, “After Hours Til Dawn”, and marks the beginning of a new phase in the artist’s career.

With tickets sold out, the show, scheduled for 9 p.m., will be broadcast for free on YouTube, giving fans in other countries the chance to follow the event.

The Canadian artist, who visited the country last year with the “After Hours Til Dawn” tour, promises to present an unprecedented show, about which little is known. Interestingly, he will resume the original tour after the show, making the Brazilian performance quite exclusive.

The YouTube deal has raised expectations that the singer will do something very different at MorumBIS.
