Rapper Playboi Carti also attended the presentation
Singer The Weeknd premiered several new songs from his upcoming album “Hurry Up Tomorrow” this Saturday (9/7), in a packed show at the MorumBIS stadium in São Paulo. The presentation, broadcast worldwide on YouTube, featured special appearances by Anitta and Playboi Carti.
Much speculated after several clues on social media, Anitta sang a medley and a new song with a sample of “Bota Na Boca, Bota na Cara”, by Tati Quebra Barraco, one of the pioneers of Rio funk. On social media, Tati thanked the sample for being recognized and included in an international partnership. “From CDD [Cidade de Deus] for the world, for everything! Anitta, thank you for everything, for all the recognitions, for tasting my music and recognizing my work. After all, yes, as God commands, we are all brothers and therefore, speechless, forget everything!”
Anitta reacted with a little heart to the funk singer’s post.
The name of the new recording is not yet known, as the show in Sao Paulo took place in an atmosphere of mystery and surprises. The Weeknd interrupted his “After Hours Til Dawn” tour to present the unprecedented show, which took place without interviews or further information, and will resume the original tour later. Hours before the show, he revealed the cover of his new album, “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” the title of which was also revealed just this week.
In addition to Anitta, the music show brought Playboi Carti to Brazil. The American rapper took the stage with a performance of his collaboration with Travis Scott, “FE!N.,” and another new song. Both The Weeknd and Carti are preparing new albums that are expected to be released later this year, but details of the music included are still unclear.
