The singer performs for the first time at the Brazilian edition of the festival in a show with the Funk Orquestra alongside Mc Daniel and Mc Soffia
If you present yourself at Rock in Rio is certainly a dream for many artists. And saying that you have been on stage at more than one version of the festival is not for everyone. In 2022 Rebecca went to Lisbon to bring Brazilianness to Europe. Today, the carioca makes her debut where it all began: in Rio de Janeiro.
“Excited, nervous, it will be my debut in Brazil,” reflects the singer in conversation with Rolling Stone Brazil. “It feels like there is much more responsibility than at Rock in Rio Lisbon, being at home gives you a sense of security, but we always want to surprise and deliver better than last time.”
When we speak, Rebecca was in the rehearsal phase and had the repertoire finalized for the show that took place on the first day of the festival, Friday the 13th, at Sunset Stage. In the presentation he goes on stage with the Funk Orchestra and colleagues MC Daniel and MC Soffia.
“Sharing the stage with friends is always a pleasure, we feel at home, they are two people I admire, Sophia a unique artist, a woman, black, sings about her reality, where she came from and gives a voice to thousands of girls, I think what she represents is beautiful, I’m happy and excited,” she says.
The artist understands that being at the festival has an importance that goes beyond the music. “For me, it goes beyond funk, as a black woman it is a huge step forward and representation, until 2022 we did not have a black Brazilian woman at the festival. World Stage, Iza opened this door for us, it is very important to see ourselves in places.”
This makes us believe that it is possible, when one rises, the others see in it the possibility of rising as well.
The first record
Despite having been on the road for a few years, Rebecca has not yet released albums, but the first one is on the way. “We are finalizing the repertoire to organize the release, it will be my first studio album, it is a huge responsibility, but I want to take this step,” she reveals.

Rebecca He doesn’t give many details about what he’s preparing, but he says he wants to “bring 150 BPM back, funk roots, there will be a lot of proibidão, I chose several professionals that I respect to be with me on this project.”
The decision to release an album at this time came from the need to reinvent herself. “An album is about looking at yourself, understanding where you came from and where you’re going.” Despite this, the artist warns that it’s an album “to play at the party and only take off when it’s over!”
I still didn’t feel ready, the industry was also asking for a lot of single after single. I was starting my career and needed to adapt to what the market was asking for and that’s how I’ve made my career up until now.
