Idols must spend 18 months in mandatory service
Much is said about the BTS to the South Korean army which is mandatory in the Asian country. In 2020, the BTS Law was passed in which the group’s food was postponed, but it looks like they will have to serve it anyway.
In an interview with the newspaper The Sunday Times, the British ambassador to South Korea said that the group should spend 18 months in the army and that it would not take long for this to happen, as some members have already reached the maximum age. How Jinthe oldest of the group will be 30 years old in December and the maximum age is 28 years old.
“Young men from South Korea are highly expected to serve their country and BTS members are role models for many Koreans of the young generation. Most of our people expect BTS members to fulfill their obligations as citizens of Korea. Eventually I think it will happen.” reveals Gunn Kim.
Finally, it is worth remembering that all seven are expected to serve at the same time, so it would be an 18-month break. Then the group returns to activities. But as we mentioned, everything is still very uncertain. We will wait for official news from BigHit.
Speaking of BTS…
Yesterday the group attended the 2022 Grammy Awards. Despite not taking the prize they were competing for, they gave an incredible performance of the smash hit “Butter” with impeccable choreography with an action movie vibe.
