Will Smith Hits Brazilian Celebrities for Dinner in Rio de Janeiro

The actor and singer came to Brazil to perform at Rock in Rio and attended an exclusive gastronomic event

Will Smith is in Brazil for a highly anticipated performance at Rock in Rio and took advantage of his stay to attend an exclusive dinner in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday night (17/9). The event, organized by chef Carmem Virginia, featured a menu titled “The Dinner of the Orixás,” which paid homage to Afro-Brazilian cuisine.

Meeting with Brazilian personalities

The dinner brought together several Brazilian celebrities who took the opportunity to record their meeting with the star. Actress Juliana Alves shared a photo with Will Smith on her social media. “Special dinner and meeting with an idol,” she wrote on her Instagram profile, expressing her admiration for the actor.

Other notable presences were actor/singer Xamã and journalist Maju Coutinho, who also posted photos of the moment on their networks. Along with her husband, Agostinho Paulo Moura, Maju posted pictures with the actor and commented on the occasion in a relaxed way: “When you go to a ‘rolezinho’ with Will Smith on a Tuesday night,” wrote the journalist in the caption.

Will Smith at Rock in Rio

Will Smith, currently best known for his work in film and television, will perform at Rock in Rio on Thursday (9/19), where he will take to the Sunset Stage before Gloria Groove and on the same day as Ed Sheeran.

Many people forget, but he began his career in music. In the 80s and 90s, the artist achieved popularity as Fresh Prince, his stage name in the hip hop duo DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. The success of the group was so great that it ended up generating an invitation for the rapper to star in “Um Maluco no Pedaço”, a series inspired by his life and whose theme song, performed by him, is still remembered today. It was the beginning of his acting career.

The film hits that followed, such as “Bad Boys,” “Independence Day,” “Mens in Black,” and “Eu Sou a Lenda,” among many others, ended up overshadowing his music. Despite this, he released four solo albums from 1997 to 2005. Will Smith resumed music releases in June and revealed a new inclination towards gospel music. The new releases will premiere at Rock in Rio, along with his career hits such as “Gettin’ Jiggy wit It” and “Just the Two of Us.”
