This is the second time that The Future Is Ancestral is invited to join the Global Citizen. In 2021, Alok and indigenous artists set up a raft anchored in the Amazon River for a nearly ten-minute show broadcast to more than 100 countries simultaneously. Now, they are leaving the forest and entering the urban center, in the heart of one of the world’s major capitals, in an initiative to call on the richest nations to take action to meet climate needs.
The performance will be part of the “Defend The Planet” block which features the participation of Chris Martinof the Coldplayand the actors Hugh Jackman and Whoopi Goldberg. The broadcast will be live on the official channels of Global Citizen on YouTube, Amazon Music, Twitch, Apple Music and Apple TV, Facebook, TikTok and ABC News streams on Disney+ and Hulu.
It is worth remembering that The Future Is Ancestral is a contribution of the Alok Institute to the “International Decade of Indigenous Languages” in cooperation with the UNESCO. It aims to amplify indigenous voices and carry their messages as guardians of a sustainable relationship with nature.
