The singers spoke to the press before performing on Brazil Day
Saturday 21st, hours Rock in Rio 2024 is entirely dedicated to Brazilian artists. Divided by musical genres, the program includes samba, rap, trap, MPB, country and rock shows.
The cast of the samba show, which will take place this afternoon, on the Sunset Stage, is composed of Alcione, Zeca Pagodinho, Jorge Aragão, Diogo Nogueira, Maria Rita and Xande de Pilares. The singers spoke to the press backstage at the festival.
Relaxation was the watchword. Alcione wore a T-shirt with a photo of Zeca Pagodinho. Someone saw the singer sitting on a bench and joked: “Hide your belly, Zeca.” “Not me, leave it here, it’s mine,” he replied.
Said Diogo Nogueira, recalling Torloni’s phrase that became a meme a few years ago. “Today is samba day, honey.” “Oops, what to drink?” Zeca immediately replied.
Jorge Aragão, who has played at Rock in Rio before, said he felt at home. “We must remember that before Rock in Rio there was samba rock,” he said, affirming that the genre is not foreign to the festival’s nest.
“Samba is a very strong settlement. Everything that happens is around it,” Xande said. Maria Rita, who started her career in MPB, dismissed the question about the responsibility of joining samba: “Guys, you say so much that I have a burden, that I am Elis’ daughter… Stop it.”
“Arlindo (Cruz) always told me to have less respect. That I should enter without asking permission,” he added.
