Lily Allen hails Chappell Roan’s impact on music: ‘Changing the scene’

Lily Allen commented on how she noticed a change in fans’ behavior after Chappell Roan personally denounced toxic attitudes from admirers

A veteran artist in the music world, known for hits such as “Smile,” “Somewhere Only We Know,” “Fuck You” and “LDN,” Lily Allen praised the impact of a new name that is already very successful: Chappell Roandescribed as “inspiring” and “changing the scene.”

In Miss Me?her podcast produced by BBC Soundswith British TV personality Miquita Olivershe revealed that she is “on the train Chappell Roan” after the singer set limits on fan interactions that went beyond personal boundaries. In the conversation, Allen explained how it was “really amazing that she knew herself and her limits and was happy to articulate that” early in her career, despite the backlash she received.

“It’s amazing to walk out the gates and say, ‘No, that’s not going to happen to me. I don’t care if I lose everything,'” he said. Lily Allen also referenced the filming of Roan responding to a photographer from VMA: “The amount of times I’ve been on the red carpet and people have said horrible things to me to get a reaction, you know, asked me to show a little more skin, it’s disgusting.”

Finally, Allen revealed how her husband, the actor David Harbornoticed a “palpable” change in the people who approached him on the street since Roan expressed himself publicly.
