The artist began writing her feelings on behalf of the British singer
MC Cabelinho has revealed that the eternal singer Amy Winehouse (1983-2011) is one of his main sources of inspiration when it comes to producing profound lyrics, despite working in a completely different musical genre than the artist. The information was released this Thursday (26/9) by the magazine GQ Brasil.
In a chat before recording the video “Bala e Fogo”, Cabelinho commented that his new productions mix “different feelings” and that the lyrics are true to his experiences. “To write a sound, I have to live it first. All my music refers to some moment in my life. This makes it more real”, explained the artist, commenting on his inspirations.
“I’m a big fan of Amy [Winehouse]are you connected? And everything he wrote was about what he had been through. And that inspired me a lot. He wasn’t ashamed to say that he was suffering, that he loved. And I took that for myself. And the most beautiful thing is to see a lot of people identify with that sound,” Cabelinho said.
Change the route
Cabelinho said that he is also inspired by the career of MC Orelha, of whom he has a tattoo on his body, but it was the British singer who motivated his career change: “He is a guy who inspires me a lot, the first idol I saw in my life. Then I discovered Amy’s work and, in fact, she encouraged me to talk about deep feelings.”
“When I started, in funk, we talked more about prohibition, which was a reality of the favelas, you know? But after I moved on to trap and rap, I started to put my feelings on paper, the vision stuck? Freedom to talk about my feelings in a trap beat,” Cabelinho added.
