The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power fans will be surprised by the ending of this episode!

Any Lord of the Rings fan will remember the great soundtracks of Peter Jackson’s films. Of course, there is music composed by Howard Shore, but also new songs played specifically by Enya (may be), Emiliana Torin (Song of Gollum) or even Ed Sheeran (I see firein The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug).

The Lord of the Rings series honors the tradition of Peter Jackson’s films

The Rings of Power series, which takes place several millennia before the plot of The Lord of the Rings, is unrelated to the Peter Jackson trilogies. Nevertheless, the program maintained its tradition of offering original songs inspired by the world of Middle-earth.

Thus, the first season of the program offered a song Where the shadows liePerformed by Fiona Apple. The words of this title take the opening words of JRR Tolkien’s novel: “Three rings for the Elf-kings under the sky, Seven for the Dwarf lords in their stone dwellings, Nine for mortal men doomed to perish, One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne, In the land of shadows of Mordor.”

Rings of Power season 2, and more specifically its seventh episode, features an original song titled Damrod’s last ballad. The peculiarity of this title is to be a metal song, which evokes the tone of melodic and harmonious music generally associated with the Lord of the Rings saga.

Middle Earth plays Hellfest

The singer of this song is Swedish Jens Kidman. The latter is particularly known to metal fans for his participation in the band Meshuggah, which has been active since 1987. The idea for the collaboration with Jens Kidman belongs to the composer of the original soundtrack, Bear McCreary, to illustrate the introduction of the series. Warrior troll, wait for me.

Song The Last Ballad of Damrod:

“Damrod makes a crushing entrance. There are many elements associated with heavy metal that fit this character. We couldn’t help but dedicate a song to him that’s like an anthem.” The American composer commented during the feature film.

There are also many connections between fantasy and heavy metal. Famous for interpreting Saruman in The Lord of the Rings, the legendary Christopher Lee notably recorded two metal albums: Charlemagne: with sword and cross (2010) and Metal Knight (2014). The latter also received the Spirit of Metal Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award in 2010.

Rings of Power Season 2 can be seen every week exclusively on Prime Video.
