On the night of Saturday 28 September, singer Thiaguinho’s show at the Samba Recife festival was abruptly interrupted by a fire that hit the catering area of ​​the event, held outside the Pernambuco Convention Center, in Olinda. The situation alarmed the public and organizers, but fortunately no injuries were reported.

At 9.35pm the fire brigade was called and quickly sent five vehicles to the scene, including fire, rescue and operational command teams. The flames spread to some counters in the catering area, causing extensive material damage. Thanks to the prompt intervention of the firefighters, the fire was put out around 10.30pm, allowing the party to continue after the accident.

Witnesses reported that, despite the scare, the atmosphere of the event remained vibrant. Thiaguinho, at the peak of his performance, temporarily stopped the show, but the security team and organizers assured that all safety protocols would be followed.

The festival, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2024, resumed its programming after the fire was brought under control, delivering on the promise of a weekend full of samba and entertainment.

After the scare, the second evening of Samba Recife, which took place on Sunday 29 September, brought a lineup full of samba stars, such as Alcione, Sorriso Maroto and Fundo de Quintal. Security was tightened to ensure the festivals could go ahead without further incident and audiences turned out in droves to enjoy the shows.

The event is not only a celebration of music, but also a moment of unity and joy for the local community. With large attendance expected, organizers worked to ensure the visitor experience was positive while maintaining high safety standards. The success of the festival over the years is a testament to Pernambuco’s love for samba and local culture.

Thiaguinho, who recently announced a commemorative tour for his “Tardezinha” project, promised fans that the interruption will not affect the spirit of the party. “The important thing is that everyone is well and that the music continues” the singer said in a post-show statement, reaffirming his commitment to joy and celebration through his art.
