The singer of Coldplay, Chris Martinreported that the band will release their twelfth album as their last, in an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music on Monday the 30th. “It’s very important to have a limit,” he explained. Coldplay’s tenth (studio) album, titled Lunar musicwill premiere on Friday, October 4.
“We’re only going to do 12 full albums, and that’s the reality. I promise,” the artist begins. However, there is a reason for the end of the album production of the British band: “There are only 12 and a half Beatles albums. Even Bob Marley has almost the same amount. So, all our heroes.”
Lowe adds that he wants Coldplay to have 50 albums, to which the singer jokingly retorts: “It doesn’t, because less is more. And for some of our critics, less is [álbuns]even better.”
But this does not mean that the group will end: the singer thinks about music in other ways. “If we do anything together after this, it will be something completely different, or another aspect [de um projeto]or a collection of things we haven’t finished yet.”
Finally, he explains, during the interview, that he does not want to depend for a long time on complex projects like these, because “they involve ‘disputes’ between people. “I want to be able to give others a little of their life back.”
