Holy Kings he is the strength of the B-side of pop, that is, the artist behind the composition of great hits, prestigious and called to be part of great songs and albums such as Bombastic (in which he also shares vocals with IZA), for example Hell AND You don’t know how to love (From Cleo), among others. With a career of 12 years, it is the basis of musical construction. And why not say, the owner of the voice and the pen.

For his debut project, Holy Kings brings a narrative about diversity, without leaving aside the criticism and acid humor that gets to the root of the problem. Black women are a reference in this journey, but their greatest inspiration is their grandmother Iraticwith whom he has never met, but says he felt the strength of his presence.

“‘Se Eu Fosse Uma Garota Branca’ is not just an album. It is an appeal to the reconstruction of identity in a country marked by diversity, but also by racism. An invitation to reflect on the crossing of racial prejudice in the journey of young artists and the construction of identity in a world that insists on defining us by the color of our skin This album exists because I have been, my entire life, surrounded by black women who tirelessly strive to provide a better life for themselves and others. Women who are at the base of this society, who grew up being told: ‘You are black, you have to be a thousand times better so as not to lose your place’. Women who doubted their own beauty, even their own ability to achieve and deserve the good things in life “scores.

KING Saints looked to Lily Allen for inspiration for their new music video

Holy Kings quotes the pop classic Smileby the British singer and songwriter Lily Allenas one of the great references for the title track and for the construction of this audiovisual story, directed by Leone Ferraz. Registered in a deactivated clinic in Saint Paulcomplements the music with a carefully planned aesthetic. Characterizing the artist, with references to white women of the 1970s, was a complex process that involved attention to details ranging from hair to skin tone.

“It’s a song I created to have fun and bring to light some important issues. With a sour and relaxed feel, it came about while I was watching a satirical video about white women trying to ‘contain the damage’ after an act of racism. You know that classic apology video, right? They appear with a white blouse, face without makeup, white background and always say the emblematic phrase “who knows me knows…” It’s a childish image, as if they were 12 year old children who they would fight at school and their parents would force them to apologize, without really learning anything. This inspired me to create this song.”explains the artist regarding the title track.

“‘If I Were a White Girl’ is not a desire to be one, but rather a comfort to black women who felt isolated in this feeling of helplessness. You are not alone, I am not alone! We are not all the same, and this is beautiful. We are an ancestral community”it ends Holy Kings.
