The producer intends to expand the public studio project to several cities in the future
Jack Antonoff plans to build public recording studios in LGBTQ+ youth shelters across the United States. In the early hours of this Tuesday, the 1st, he published the announcement on social media.
The producer confessed that he “loves recording at home or in hotel rooms”, but “the studio is different”.
Working with analog equipment and creating sounds that are impossible to recreate is powerful. Knowing you are in a space for a limited time and giving it your best effort is vital. A studio is a rare space, and you function differently because of it.
“I ride on planes, look down and see baseball diamonds everywhere, basketball courts all over my neighborhood, running tracks, public parks and gyms, etc. There are many facilities available for what we value,” he reported. Antonoff. “I dream of the studio being a place that anyone can access, not just those with the money to do so. It should be a place that all people can experience and find out if that’s where they belong.”

Then the musician shared his thoughts: “I plan to spend much of the next chapter of my life bringing these spaces to people who wouldn’t otherwise have access to them. Public studios available to those excluded by the price.”
“It will take time and require a lot of resources, but here we have a plan that starts with working with the Ally Coalition to build studios in shelters for LGBTQ+ youth. From there, we will have a network of engineers that we will fund to train people in these places,” he continued, mentioning New York institution.
“Our plan is to build these spaces, pay for maintenance and engineering, and let the centers distribute the times for people to use. From there, we can start expanding to other cities when everything is working.”
The frontman of Bleachersthen invited “anyone who believes this and has resources that can help” to get in touch via email [email protected] to participate in the project.
