The Black Sabbath frontman opened up about his struggles with sobriety amid health issues
Ozzy Osbourne75 years old, admitted in an interview with the podcast Madhouse Chronicles that “is not completely sober” and revealed that he has been using marihuana occasionally. The singer also mentioned the temptation to return to stronger drugs, especially after facing health complications such as his Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2020 and recent back surgery.
He explained that his wife, Sharon Osbourne, plays a key role in keeping him away from harder drugs, stating that she “It would complicate your life” if he went back to those habits. “Even with marijuana, she finds it and throws it away“, shared Ozzy.
The singer also spoke about an experience with ketamineafter surgery, which reactivated old impulses related to drug use.
I went to a doctor recently and started using this ketamine. He put a small amount on me, but it was enough to wake me up. That came back and weighed on my mind.
Ozzy also mentioned that he stopped attending group meetings. Alcoholics Anonymousbut said he should go back to attending meetings, as they had helped him in the past. “If you are using drugs and want to stop, there is a lot of help available.”he stated.
In addition to his personal struggles, it was announced that Ozzy will be inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the second time, this time for his solo career. Jack Black will pay tribute, and artists such as Billy Idol and Maynard James Keenan (from Tool) will perform in his honor.
