Ozzy Osbourne’s former guitarist shot multiple times in Las Vegas

The musician was caught while walking his dog and is in intensive care

Jake E. Lee, the guitarist who became known for playing with Ozzy Osbourne in the 1980s and for founding the bands Badlands and Red Dragon Cartel, was shot “several times” this Tuesday morning (10/15), in Las Vegas while walking his dog. The musician’s representative informed the press that he is conscious and recovering in an intensive care unit in Las Vegas.

Police investigation and request for privacy

Local authorities believe the shooting was random. “As the incident is under police investigation, no further comments will be made. Lee and his family appreciate their privacy being respected at this time,” said the guitarist’s representative, who did not provide further details on the case.

On social media, fans and followers expressed concern and wished the guitarist well.

Career and impact on music

Jake E. Lee, whose birth name is Jake Lou Williams, was a member of Ozzy Osbourne’s band between 1982 and 1987 and is listed among the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” by Guitar World magazine. After being fired by Ozzy, he founded the band Badlands in 1988 with singer Ray Gillen, bassist Greg Chaisson and drummer Eric Singer. Gillan died of AIDS in 1993, Singer moved on to Kiss and the band imploded. Lee spent a decade without a stable band until he founded Red Dragon Cartel in 2013, with whom he played until 2019.

This year, former Badlands bassist Greg Chaisson said Lee suffered from carpal tunnel syndrome in his right wrist and was awaiting surgery, which explains why he no longer performs live.
