She figuratively and literally she escapes pop to complain about scenarios full of beautiful people in minimal clothes, refusing to be part of the standards.
The refrain is certainly powerful. “I wonder: is it just me looking for content? I got high, it left me alone and unloved. I don’t want to end up in a coffin [com a] head full of worms, body full of shit, “she sings, reflecting her near-death experience in real life after an overdose.
But rebellion is still a cliché with no “substance” to say: now I rock. Is there a bigger stereotype than finishing the clip on a motorcycle, with dynamite in hand? The presence of the socialite Paris Hilton on the back, with the inert bike, only reinforces the fake aspect, in a sublime confession that rock is boutique and rebellion follows the latest pop fashion, with an eye on Olivia Rodrigo’s success .
Demi Lovato’s rebellious track is taken from her eighth album, “Holy Fvck”, and succeeds fellow rocker “Skin of My Teeth” as the album’s first single. The full disc won’t hit music platforms until August 19, the day before Demi turns 30.
