Taron Egerton has become quite a notable name on the big screen, with performances in films such as rocket Yes Kingsman: The Secret Service in his name Despite a constantly growing list of credits since the first King films in 2015, nearly all of his live work was in movies rather than television. Things have changed with the Apple TV + miniseries. black bird, which focuses on Jimmy d’Egerton for a six-part story based on true events. The actor spoke to Gossipify about his approach black bird unlike the movies.
Before black birdThe 32-year-old Briton’s most recent work on television have been vocal roles for broadcast projects, including sunken ship Yes The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. In the Apple TV + live-action series, he plays a convicted criminal who agrees to be transferred to a hellish prison and tries to extract a confession from another inmate in an attempt to get out of prison early. When I spoke to Egerton before the premiere, I noticed that he is no stranger to projects based on real people and real stories, explaining his approach to this television project from his strong film background:
I don’t know if your approach as an actor changes a lot. Obviously the support is for someone building it from scratch, then Dennis [Lehane], our showrunner, writer, creator; For him, I think it’s different from a movie, because the tools you use to tell the story are different. It’s a different structure. And I guess there is a part of that when you are also the protagonist of something, because I think you can embrace the enigmatic characters more. You don’t have to declare who someone is. You have more time to tell the story so you can allow things to happen more slowly. I think maybe at some level you are vaguely aware of this even in acting. But in general, I approach the same way.
According to Taron Egerton, he hasn’t changed his approach much, other than being “vaguely aware” that there’s more time to tell a story and develop characters with a six-episode series than a movie. Of course, maybe Egerton should have changed his approach a lot more if black bird did it work for multiple episodes or was it likely to have a second season. As it stands, it appears that the practices that have worked for Egerton on the big screen have translated very well to the small screen.
The actor’s comments also indicate that the show found the perfect man for the job, which isn’t too surprising. Showrunner Dennis Lehane revealed that they “wanted Taron soon enough because he’s an ideal role” and he has what it takes to play dangerous, calculating and youthful roles. The showrunner also revealed that Egerton was adamant about who he wanted as a co-star, after seeing Paul Walter Hauser (in a very different character than he played in). cobra-kai) read the most disturbing scenes of the series.
The show is still relatively early in its run, with the first two episodes scheduled for the first time on July 8 and the third on July 15. Not necessarily a story for the faint of heart, with the terrible crimes Jimmy needs Larry to confess, but another actor explained how black bird managed to avoid exploiting the disturbing true story behind the series.
Make sure you keep your Apple TV + subscription active so you don’t miss a minute of the limited series.
