The last rock band: documentary on Cachorro Grande at the Film Festival

Summary

The author wrote the screenplay for the film “The Last Rock Band” of the gaucho friends of Cachorro Grande. The film will premiere in Sao Paulo on 10/23.

It’s not really a premiere, and it’s not even on the screen, but I wrote the screenplay and pre-screenplay of the film by my gaucho friends from Cachorro Grande. It’s directed by Lirio Ferreira, a great filmmaker, and I haven’t even seen it before its big screen premiere, which takes place this Wednesday, in Sao Paulo.

It was supposed to be a documentary about the last show of the last (real) rock band in the country. But with Cachorro anything is possible, so everything has happened since that performance was recorded. They finished, did their last tour, came back and more things could have happened on Wednesday.

The synopsis is this: “The story of Cachorro Grande, told with archival images and never-before-seen moments, is a visceral and unashamed account of what it meant to be a rock band in 21st century Brazil. From the first shows, in which they fervently recreated the classics of the Beatles, the Who and the Rolling Stones, through their consecration at the Circus Voador, up to their definitive dissolution, the documentary brings to light the free and often chaotic spirit that defined the group. For many, the band was a beacon of rock ‘n’ roll resistance in the country, at a time when the genre seemed to have lost steam.

With sensitive and thought-provoking direction, Lírio Ferreira offers an intimate behind-the-scenes perspective of the band: from the bohemian nights and bursts of creativity to the heated arguments that were part of the members’ daily lives. Among the rare images, audiences will be able to relive iconic moments, such as the opening night of the Rolling Stones concert in 2016, one of the highlights of their career, as well as the memorable and irreverent live shows that won over fans. over Brazil.

The film is not just a documentary on the end of a musical group, it is a celebration of an era, a lifestyle and a band that, between successes and challenges, managed to carve its name in the history of Brazilian music ”.
