Promoters of the Oasis reunion tour hope to invalidate around 50,000 tickets listed on internet resale platforms
Oasis is fulfilling its promise to crack down on the resale of tickets for the reunion tour shows, which will feature Liam and Noel Gallagher together after around 15 years, with the band preparing to invalidate around 50,000 tickets sold on the secondary market, according to information from BBC.
The promoters of the series of shows in question, Live Nation and SJMsaid they would begin canceling the tickets in question and make those seats available again through Ticketmaster at nominal value (information on new sale dates will be announced soon). When tickets for the UK and Ireland reunion shows went on sale in August 2024, fans were told they could only buy them through Ticketmaster or the only official resale partner, Twickets.
“These terms and conditions have been successfully implemented to take action against secondary ticketing companies that resell tickets for huge profits,” a spokesperson said. “All parties involved in the tour continue to urge fans not to purchase tickets from unauthorized websites as some may be fraudulent and others may be subject to cancellation.”
Prosecutors also said that as they continue to monitor secondary websites for unauthorized ticket sales, they will pass information on to “relevant law enforcement…when appropriate.”
Despite rules and warnings about ticket resale, hundreds of tickets for the Oasis appeared on resale platforms such as Viagogosome costing almost £3,000, approximately R$22,000 at current prices. Following news of the pending cancellations, a spokesperson for Viagogo told BBC that the platform “would continue to sell [ingressos do Oasis] the way the regulator says we can.” (A Viagogo previously noted that fans are “protected” by a guarantee that they will “receive their tickets in time for the event or their money back.”)
