Lana Del Rey denies that her next album will have a southern gothic sound; understand

At the beginning of 2024, Lana Del Rey revealed how her tenth studio album will bear the name Lasso; but idea may be changed in the future

Singer of hits like “Summertime Sadness,” “Young and Beautiful,” “Say Yes to Heaven” and “West Coast,” Lana Del Rey works on the next studio album, the successor to Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd (2023). Her new sound project, which has few details released, was speculated to be Southern Gothic, but the 39-year-old artist denied this report.

It is worth remembering how, at the beginning of 2024, the singer announced that her tenth studio album will be called Lasso, which will have a country sound. Furthermore, Jack Antonoff and Luke Laird will collaborate in the production of the work.

In an interview with Vogue Italia, Lana Del Rey explained the launch delay: there was a “literal energy pause.” She even speculated how it would “take a turn” in a different direction and added that the title could be changed.

There was a lot of American talent, a lot of American aesthetics.

“I stopped because I didn’t recognize myself. I would like this album to be a reflection of the person I am today. I could transform it into something more ‘southern gothic’, as it should have been in the beginning, and less country,” said the artist.

However, in a post on Instagram, Lana Del Rey clarified the matter, which was widely speculated after the interview was broadcast: “I think perhaps there was an error in the Italian translation of what I said.”
