This Sunday, November 3, singer and songwriter Rita Lee was remembered in a question on the National High School Examination (Enem), moving students and fans from all over Brazil.
The artist, who passed away in May 2023, had an excerpt from his last work, Rita Lee: Another Autobiographylaunched in the same year, it was included in the race, in a gesture that immediately attracted attention on social media.
The question presented candidates with three paragraphs from the singer’s autobiographical book, considered the “queen of national rock”followed by the question: “As a strategy to get closer to her reader, the author uses a position of empathy explained in…”
The students then had to choose between five alternatives, trying to identify the passage that best represented this characteristic of empathy that marked Rita Lee’s writing and personality. The options offered were:
A) “Every now and then I receive faces of fans, and some are very young”
B) “I’m in heaven reading these things”
C) “It seems more complicated to be young today”
D) “I wanted to give these kids endless kisses and cuddles”
E) “I would say that it is not a sign of health to adapt well to a sick society”
The impact of the tribute on social media was immediate. Students shared images of the question and discussed which alternative would best reflect the singer’s empathy, highlighting the importance of her work in Brazilian culture.
Even Rita Lee’s official profile, which began to be managed by her family after her death, did not let the tribute go unnoticed. His son, João Lee, interacted with his followers by sharing an image of the issue, asking: “Which answer do you think is correct?The post was greeted with enthusiasm by fans and onlookers, who expressed affection and gratitude for seeing Rita represented in a nationwide review.
