One of the main attractions of Rock in Rio 2024, singer Cyndi Lauper said in an interview with Folha de S.Paulo that she sees Brazil as “a special place for music, for performance”.

“I’m excited to play my music and encourage people, especially young women, to have a joyful life,” said the artist, who returns to Brazil 13 years after her last performance in the country.

Lauper also commented on being an important voice in the fight for women’s rights and LGBTQ+ causes. “I have always wanted to have the same freedoms as men. And if I’m not worried about my freedom, no one will be. This is my message to young women,” the singer said.
