In the program Conversation with Bialshown last Wednesday (11/6), the musician Samuel Rosa, former singer of the group Skank, opened his heart about the end of the group that marked generations and about the new stages of his life.
After the last show of his farewell tour, held in March 2023, Samuel took the opportunity to share his first solo album, *Rosa*, released on June 28, 2024.
In addition to his solo career, the artist is experiencing fatherhood at the age of 50, with the birth of his daughter Ava. In the chat, Samuel talked about Skank’s transition, the creative process behind the successes and the excitement of being a father again.
For Samuel Rosa, the decision to close Skank was not impulsive, but the result of a long process of reflection. He explained that the group treated the end with the same care as the beginning, trying to give fans a dignified farewell and honor the band’s history.
“Skank had the opportunity to take care of the ending as well as he took care of the beginning. It was all very explicit, it was talked about“, he shared. According to him, the choice to put Skank on hiatus was something he was already feeling, motivated by the need to end a career that spanned more than 30 years.
Samuel revealed that he made this decision not only to explore his artistic independence, but also to avoid future regrets. “It didn’t happen overnight. I thought that, after three decades, I wouldn’t have to deal with myself at the end of my life if I didn’t try [algo novo]“he explained.
During the interview, he recalled the creation of the hit “Vou Deixar”, one of Skank’s most emblematic songs, stating that the melody was born in an almost “medianic” way, while playing the guitar.
For Samuel, this spontaneous creative process has been one of the hallmarks of his career, allowing him to explore both planned and emerging compositions in an instantaneous and genuine way.
Samuel Rosa: solo album and late fatherhood
In addition to his new musical work, Samuel Rosa is experiencing a special moment in his personal life. He recently became a father for the third time, with the birth of Ava, just eight months old, the result of his relationship with the journalist Laura Sarkovas.
For the singer, the experience of fatherhood at 50 was unexpected, but also a gift. “If I become a father again it’s because I deserve it,” he said emotionally. He emphasized that Ava’s arrival brought a new perspective on life and his responsibility as a father.
Samuel also has two older children, Juliano and Ana, aged 25 and 22, from his previous relationship with Ângela Castanheira, to whom he was married for two decades until their separation in 2018.
Life with his children and relationship with his new family have been transformative for the singer, who feels motivated to continue enjoying every step of this phase of life.
The release of his first solo album, Roseit represents a continuation of his career and a way to repay the affection of his fans, who have followed him for decades.
According to him, the album carries an intimate connection with his Skank trajectory, but also innovates by allowing Samuel to explore new artistic facets, now on a solo path.
Between memories and news, Samuel Rosa proved that although Skank has come to an end, his legacy continues through his solo work, his reflections and his love for his family.
